About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Egyptian journal of Genetics & Cytology has been publishing papers from a broad spectrum of agricultural science, genetics, cytology, cell biology and biotechnology. In the field of cell biology and cytology, the following topics are included: cell structure and functions, organization and reproduction of cell structures, functions of normal and pathological cells, use of in vitro culture. In the field of genetics and biotechnology, our scope includes molecular genetics, cell structure and functions, the genetic basis of breeding, medical genetics, genetic engineering. In addition, our scope includes papers in the fields of systems genetics, systems biology, toxicogenetics, and toxicogenomics. Some of the subjects covered are population genetics; cytogenetics evaluations of environmental factors; genotoxic effects in plants, animals, and humans; heredity, hybridization, breeding, selection genetic diagnostics, genetic engineering; genome mapping, genetic markers, and DNA analysis.
Peer Review Process
Each article is reviewed by two peer reviewers in the field. The submitted article must meet the following conditions:
Originality, adding new knowledge and contain sound conclusion in the field.
Reviewers are selected according to their merits and relevance to the subject matter of the paper to be reviewed. Two weeks maximum are allowed to conduct the reviews.

Journal History
The Egyptian Society of Genetics was established in 1969 to serve the scientific community in the field of genetics and its applications through sponsoring several activities which includes holding national and international conferences, workshops and seminars. The society has published the Egyptian Journal of Genetics and Cytology since 1971 as an international journal devoted to Genetics and Cytology.
It services the researchers in the field, of agriculture, medicine, veterinary, pharmacy and many more. As it appears regularly since there are two issues per volume in January and July. The journal has a wide distribution in the local universities library as well as some international libraries. In addition to the annual meetings, the society held international genetics and its application conferences.
